Civil War Weekend
This weekend, July 18th & 19th, the Old Falls Village will host Civil War Weekend. Throughout the historic village, re enactors will portray the life of soldiers in this time period. The medical tent will find doctors mending patients, and displays of medical equipment of the day. The cook tent, the soldiers quarters, all teach history lessons to young and old.
Last year I saw Abraham Lincoln himself, walking the grounds visiting the soldiers, and making a speech to the crowds….
Be sure to cover your ears when they blast off the canons; it is sure to either amaze a youngster or frighten them to tears! A full slate of activities is planned for Saturday and Monday, including Battle re-enactments, Infantry Drills and a visit with Mr. Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln. Stay late to enjoy campfires and stories.
